- Written by: Telegraph Magazine
They include Ha Long International Cruise Port, Sun World Ha Long, VUI-Fest Ha Long, Sun Bavaria Ha Long and Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort, available to visitors ahead of November, which international travel guides list among the favorable months to visit the bay.
Bay access
Ha Long International Cruise Port, developed by Sun Group in Bai Chay, serves as a departure point for day and overnight cruises. Activities on the bay include sightseeing from the deck, kayaking and cave visits. The port is located near the group's leisure and dining venues in Bai Chay, allowing visitors to continue their itinerary on shore after a cruise.
Shore facilities
At Sun World Ha Long, the Queen Cable Car crosses Cua Luc Bay to Ba Deo Hill, offering aerial views of the bay. In the evening, VUI-Fest Ha Long, near the Bai Chay lighthouse, offers street food, shopping and performances, while Sun Bavaria Ha Long, a beer restaurant on the waterfront, serves local seafood, barbecue and Sun KraftBeer.
In Quang Hanh, Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort offers rooms and villas with private onsen supplied by natural hot springs, suited to the cooler weather northern Vietnam enters in November.
Seasonal context
In an Oct. 11 update to its guide on when to visit Vietnam, Travel + Leisure lists April, October and November as suitable months for Ha Long Bay, citing warm, sunny and dry weather, and recommends overnight cruises for travelers seeking quieter areas of the bay. Lonely Planet notes that October and November are well suited to exploring Ha Long and neighboring Bai Tu Long Bay, with dry days outnumbering wet ones.
With November among the months both guides recommend, visitors can combine the bay's heritage landscape, evening entertainment in Bai Chay and hot-spring stays in Quang Hanh within a single trip.
