icare’s 2018 GRADUATE PROGRAM TARGETS FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS

  • Written by Media iCare

icare NSW has opened applications for its 2018 Graduate Program, inviting university graduates from all academic backgrounds to join its second intake of potential future business leaders.

icare Chief People Officer Greg Barnier said the strength of icare is in the diversity of experience and ideas that its people and leaders bring to protecting, insuring and caring for the people and assets of our state in innovative ways, making NSW a great place to work and live.

“We’re looking for graduates from all areas of study, with varied achievements in and outside of university life, including work experience or success in sport, community service or leadership,” Mr Barnier said.

“The diverse experience of our employees is vital in helping icare deliver on its goal of providing people-centered insurance and care services for injured people and employers and this is emulated in the graduates we look for,” he said.

“This year, we also strongly encourage applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage to apply for our upcoming graduate program.

“Graduate recruitment is a key way to identify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent, which reflects our community’s diverse needs.

“If you’re a team player who can think laterally, be innovative, take intelligent risks, and value high levels of accountability and respect – we want you,” Mr Barnier said.

The first intake of  graduates are progressing strongly through the two-year program, making an active contribution to icare’s goal of challenging the way people think about insurance and care services through a world-class customer experience.

The rare opportunity to personally impact icare’s business is what attracted Business and Human Resources Masters degree graduate Gabrielle Beaman to icare.

“icare offers graduates a ‘jump-in-the-deep-end’ kind of program, with the opportunity to work on and own business critical projects, which are real, meaningful and challenging,” Ms Beaman said.

“Since joining the program, I’ve been tasked with a major data-analytics project which measures and drives stronger collaboration across icare - something that’s vitally important to the business as a whole, and is a brand new skill I’ve learnt.

“I’ve also had the exciting opportunity to work directly with icare’s senior leaders on this project, and be mentored in the kind of transparent leadership style I aspire to,” she said.

Commencing in February 2018, the programs combines formal training in developing leadership skills and capabilities, with hands-on practical work experience in research, business planning, and strategy development in six-month rotations across all business units.

On successful completion of the program, graduates will be offered permanent positions, helping icare build its next generation of highly skilled leaders.

Graduates who have completed a Bachelor-level degree in the last 12 months can apply for icare’s 2018 Graduate Program here. Applications close on 30 June, 2017. If you have any questions, please call 1300 911 662 or email icaregraduates@hudson.com
